We're the Bermuda Clean Air Coalition, and we're demanding change.
Join us in the fight for clean air.
Who are we?
The Bermuda Clean Air Coalition (BCAC) is an activist group aimed at raising awareness of the health and property impacts caused by BELCO’s operations, and reaching resolutions to help Bermudians affected by these impacts.
We are a voluntary, non-political collective of local residents, businesses, and NGOs who care deeply about our environment and legacy for future generations.
What's happening?
We believe that the combustion of un-scrubbed Heavy Fuel Oil by BELCO is causing unacceptable levels of nuisance to Bermudians locally and island-wide. Our concerns include:

-
Visible deposits on roofs, vehicles, soil
-
Contamination of water tanks
-
Frequent strong smell of fumes preventing outdoor activity
-
Impact on physical and mental health
-
Impact on children at local schools
-
Devaluation of property
-
Liability of nearby businesses to their customers
Our objectives:
-
Public release of all historical emissions data
-
Assessment of BELCO compliance with local and international standards
-
Bermuda to adopt EU-level emissions standards
-
Assessment of extent of area impacted by BELCO
-
Measures by BELCO to mitigate emissions
-
BELCO to compensate damage to property
-
BELCO to install water filters on affected tanks
-
